This intrusion was not welcomed. Caoránach sent a flock of her oftspring to hunt the intruder. Saint Patrick however prayed and his prayers were answered, the flock was blown away and
Caoránach brought to him where their battle on the mountain top began. The battle and persuit ended at the lake now called Lough Derg was Caoránach finally captured and defeated.
